Your Startpage
Until now I have been using a service called mypagestart.dk as my browser's startpage. I found the concept very usefull, since you can add links and categories on the page and in that way access your bookmarks from anywhere in the world. Recently the service suddently shut down, without any warnings. What a shame.

But now I found an even better service providing the same features. It's called minstartside.net, which means mystartpage in english. There might be similar services out there in english, but if you would like to use this one that is in danish, I think you will have no problems. The few links in the menu you should be able to translate. Well try it out!

Comments option removed
Some sick jerk has spend the last days leaving comments in most of my posts, advertising for his nasty pornosites. Though html is off in this blog and his links don't work, I have decided to turn off the posibility to comment all former posts. I,m sorry, but this also means that the wanted comments from you has become invisible. (they are still in the database though)

Now I leave this post open for comments as the only one. If you experienced bloggers has any advice about stupid jerks who finds it amusing spamming blogs, please let me know.

I,m still here!
It's been a long time since I have done any posts here. I,m still alive and fit for fight, but have been very buisy last month.. So my time to both write and follow up on the new stuff in the computer world have been short.

First of all I have moved to a new apartement and this is a great thing! Before I lived in a small place with only one room, 30 m2. Now I can't belive that I could survive there with 3 computers, a lot of computerparts, books, about 1 million cd's and lots of other stuff. There was always a mess everywhere. The new flat is on 87 m3 and I really enjoy the space. I,m beginning to feel home now, but still need a lot of things to do here, I want to paint my furnitures and have to buy a few new ones too, put up cardigans and lamps, unpack lots of moving cases with my stuff - things like that.

Last week I went on a summercamp with some children from my primary job - a bit unhandy in the middle of my movement. It was on a small island in the north of denmark. We had a great time there, though it was very rainy the first days. Now I,m back home and have one month of vacation and hopefully more time to write here in my blog.

With my new apartement also follows a kind of job as janitor or caretaker. In this way I live here very cheap and also recives a monthly fee. Time will show if this second job will take all my time when my hollyday ends from the primary job, until now it seems rather harmless.

Well, this post should just tell everybody that my blog is online and I,m fine...

Have a nice summer! - or winter if you are from Australia or New Zeeland [8D]

Try Vista
Good news for everybody who wants to test the new Windows Vista. I have been betatester for almost ½ year now, and the former versions had, as expected, a lot of bugs. 2 weeks ago the first Beta 2 version was released for download, and it has improved enormously. I am impressed I must admit - but in no way the Vista can convince me to change my primary operating system in the future - I keep my PCLinuxOS....

The news is, that from today everybody can download and try/test the Windows Vista beta 2 version. Until now only the betatesting group was invited. It's a pretty hudge packet, more than 3 Gigabytes, so don't think you can participate if you have a dialup modem [:)]

If you want to install the Vista, you should have a 2. computer or you should accept the risk, that your system can break down. Don't install it on your computer without a stabil backup of your important files. It's still a Beta, and bugs still have to be found. Now you can help Microsoft finding those remaining bugs and suggest new features or changes.

Reciving Strange Emails?
Some people have reported that they are reciving strange emails these days, I personally know 3 now. The emails have the recivers own adress in the From field, and they only have one word as content, or actually it is a number. Until now these numbers are seen:

1545453, 586876, 57657, 455, 557, 5556 and 969.

One of the newssites writing about these emails, suggest that the "father" of the Bagle worm, is testing the Internet for valid emailadresses, maby for a later attack. Or a attack could allready be in action, but with a mis-coded programme. Never the less, strange they are, since they do not have any attachments, pictures, malicious code - notthing but this single number....

I have only read about this on danish sites, I could not find anything in english. If you do so, please let me know in a comment below. If you have recived one of the emails, please comment too...

Danes can read more here:
At TDC's site
At Computerworld's site

Apropos spam. Last month I wrote about the new spamfighting community, Okopipi. The work is still on there, and hopefully they get closer to a new product and a opening date. You can read more at the Okopipi site

Rapture Riders
Well, this post has nothing to do with computering or security, except that you need a computer to hear this great song. I have now listen to it almost a 100 times, and it even seems to become better and better. Now I really have to share it with you, I hope you agree with my sence of music [:)]

The song is a mix and you will hear the originally voice of Jim Morrison, singing Riders on the Storm. The music is played by Blondie and Deborah Harry is also singing some lines of her own.

If you like Rock music in general, do yourself a favour and download this video. If you have broadband, do get the video in high quality - you won't be dissapointed.

Here's the link for download:

Enjoy!!!

New page; Tips & tricks
A short post just to say that I started a new section on my homepage with links to pages with tips and tricks, mostly for Windows users. It's only half way finished, but maby you will find some usefull ressources there anyway.

As I write on the page,my intention is not to make another personal collection of tips about computering. There are so many sites with this kind of information on the Internet. My purpose is to share the best sites I have in my bookmarks, those I use when I have to troubleshoot my own computer, helping a user in the Spywarefri forum or a friend.

I hope you will find something new and usefull.

Watch out spammers!
Only 10 days ago I wrote about the death of Bluefrog, which I tagged as a 1-0 goal to the spammers. In the past 2 weeks there has been great activity between some enthusiastic people, who wants to fight back in a new project. They named it Okopipi and now have their own space in the wiki sites. There are links to the discussions at the Google groups, it's really interesting reading!

The major reason to the death of Bluefrog, was DDos attacks on their servers, they simply broke down making it impossible for users to report back the spam. Another weapon used by the spammers, was sending even more spam to the users of Bluefrog, some still recive 100's of spammails every day - a lot more than they did before joining Bluefrog.

To avoid the DDos attacks, the new project will not be based on a few servers, but on a worldwide network, making it possible to keep communication up, if the main servers break down. This seems like a very good idea, that BlueSecurity staff should have kept in mind before launching Bluefrog. But I guess they underestimated the power of the spammer society, if they strike back in a joined attack.

I think the Okopipi staff have one giant issue to deal with though; The security and protection of their members emailadresses. I think that everybody who participate in this kind of network, will have to deal with risk that her or his spamtraffic will rise. In every war, any soldier will have to cope with the risk of wounds, when the battle is on. And the spamming society have proved that they are a major opponent.

As written in my former post I think you should give it an extra thought before participating, and choose one of two scenarios:

1) You are willing to recive even more spam and to cope with some trouble in the fight against it. In that case you should participate when they make it possible, and I will wish you luck in the fight!!

2) You are a "normal" homeuser who just want's to get rid of your annoying spammails. You should let the soldiers fight the battle and wait until the area is secure. If the amount of spam you recive is too anoying now, you can read my former post for some advice.

Never the less, I really hope Okopipi and their participating staff will have luck with their fight against those nasty jerks, spamming the Internet only for their own profit. Go for it guys and girls!!
